Keeping Busy

Posted on 02/27/2008 at 6:18 PM

I've been keeping busy with a number of projects. I've been engineering audio for a number of basketball game telecasts. I finished mixing a nine song live music video project, the most recent installment of The Music Box (available on YouTube). I also helped record and mix a song for a Shure microphone contest. My big project of the year so far is producing/recording/mixing the band All of the Above. So far it is going very well. Anyway, I've actually been busy enough here that I'm having to turn down some opportunities.

More audio

This winter I am running audio for the cable broadcasts of high school and college basketball. I am also getting ready to record the band All of the Above.

I have been quite busy recently. I have been running camera and audio for Producers Plus, Comcast, Indiana Cable Network, and Butler University doing football, volleyball and Basketball. I also did video engineering and post production (audio mixing) for the Music Box program. Additionally, I am working on a mix of a Stereo Deluxe song, going to be working on a song for a Shure recording contest, and going to be running camera for the Indiana high school state football finals in the RCA Dome.

Music Box

I ran camera and did some engineering for the first Music Box of this season. I also just finished mixing the audio. It sounds good! Since it was a live set, an SM58 was used for the vocal, and a D.I. for the Acoustic guitar. For the mix I ran the vocal through a Tube Tech EQ and then an LA-2A compressor. I ran the acoustic through an 1176 compressor. I used some on board EQ on both of those tracks as well. I added some stereo reverb in ProTools, and used the compressor on the main mix on the Audient console which I was mixing on.

I have an assistant engineering credit on the new Mars or the Moon album, to be released here in the near future. It was recorded and mixed at the Pop Machine studios by Marc and Eric Klee Johnson.

Summer 2007

Posted on 07/23/2007 at 4:44 PM

This summer I've been doing an internship at the Pop Machine recording studios. It's a wonderful studio and has been a great experience. I've also been gigging with Autumn's Descent yet again. There are exciting projects in the works, so stay tuned to find out what this next year brings!
